Q&A
Welcome to the Q&A section of our wedding page! Here, we’ve answered some of the most common questions to help you prepare for our special day. Whether it’s about the venue, dress code, or how to RSVP, we’ve got you covered. If you have any other questions that aren’t addressed here, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help! Thank you for being part of our celebration, and we can’t wait to share this memorable day with you!
Am I invited to the ceremony?
The ceremony will be private, as we’ve chosen to share this intimate moment with no one other than our immediate families. While we would have loved to include everyone in this special occasion, we’re both a bit shy in crowds and want to be able to fully enjoy the moment without any added stress. This decision allows us to focus on each other and the people closest to us, making the experience as personal and relaxed as possible. We appreciate your understanding and support as we celebrate this milestone in a way that feels true to us.
Can I bring a plus one or kids?
For the ceremony, you are welcome to bring multiple guests, and their names will already be listed on your invitation. For the reception, if you would like to bring a plus one, it must be someone we know, and your invitation will indicate whether you have a designated plus one. We kindly ask that you only bring a guest if your invite specifically includes a plus one label. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to celebrating with you!
What can I get you for a wedding gift?
We kindly request that no physical gifts be given for our wedding. Simply joining us and celebrating this special day is more than enough for us. However, if you do wish to contribute in another way, we are both saving for a honeymoon to Korea for a week or two. We have a website where you can make a donation, or you’re welcome to bring a card if that feels more comfortable. Please know that neither is necessary—just your presence means the world to us. We truly believe that this wedding and the love and support of our families are the greatest gift we could ask for.
Is there a dress code?
The dress code for our wedding is inspired by the glamorous 1920s era, a time known for its elegant fashion and timeless style. For women, think flapper dresses with fringe, beads, or sequins, paired with vintage accessories like headbands with feathers or pearls. Men might consider wearing suits with a classic, dapper look—perhaps a tailored tuxedo or a stylish three-piece suit, complete with suspenders or a bow tie. The color palette tends to be neutral and sophisticated, featuring blacks, whites, golds, silvers, and deep jewel tones, allowing the focus to be on the glamor and the simplicity of the era.
While there’s absolutely no pressure to dress up, since it’s Halloween, we’d love for you to embrace the spirit of the 1920s with us! It’s a fun way to add to the atmosphere and make the event even more memorable.
What will the weather be like this time of year?
Typically, the weather in Iowa on October 31st can be quite unpredictable. While it’s usually cool, with temperatures averaging around 40-50°F (4-10°C), it can also be a bit chilly or even rainy. We know how quickly the weather can change, which is why we’ve decided to hold our wedding indoors. This way, we can be sure that no matter what the weather decides to do, we’ll be comfortable and able to enjoy the celebration without any worries.
Are there other wedding events I can attend?
We won’t be having many traditional wedding events, as this celebration is simply about honoring our unity. We both agreed that we prefer a simple and easy celebration, focusing on what matters most—our love for each other and the joy of being surrounded by our closest family. We value privacy and want to truly enjoy this special moment, free of stress, with the people who mean the most to us.
Can I RSVP online or do I have to mail in an RSVP card?
There’s no need to RSVP with the card, but if you prefer to send it, please mail it to 613 Rake St., Otho, IA 50569. If you’d like to RSVP online instead, simply visit the Events section of this website, where you can easily confirm your attendance. We look forward to celebrating with you!
What type of food will be served at your wedding?
We’ll be serving a delicious charcuterie grazing board featuring a variety of cheeses, cured meats, crackers, olives, nuts, and fresh fruits like grapes, strawberries, and apple slices. There will also be an assortment of spreads, such as honey and mustard, to complement the flavors. For a sweet treat, we’ll have cookies from Lorita’s Cakes n More—because we both absolutely love them!
